How to Win 101.

Tampa City Boxing's mission is “To Teach Boxing.” In order to be a boxer, you must learn the fundamental lessons and principles of boxing. The basics you learn in boxing, can translate not only to winning in the ring, but also in life, too.

Here at Tampa City Boxing, we are passionate about teaching boxing, and a huge part of that is because we believe that the lessons learned in boxing, can easily be applied to the real world. It is our goal to share with the world, a skill that has taught us more than just how to box. We want to share with the world a skill that has taught us how to win and be the champions of our lives.

Let me explain. The whole point of boxing is to win. In order to win at boxing, a boxer must prepare and be ready for anything and everything. In boxing and in life, PREPARATION is KEY. As Muhammad Ali said, “The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses -- behind the lines, in the gym and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights.”

A boxer has an opponent, and more or less on fight night, the boxer isn't really sure what the opponent is going to bring. The chances of that boxer winning on fight night, are either increased or diminished, depending on the preparation that boxer went through previous to the fight. If the boxer trained hard and fought smart, it is most likely that the boxer won. If the boxer did not take training seriously and was overconfident, well, the boxer was probably in for a long night.

This is a very simplified example of how to win in boxing, but the formula for winning in boxing, Tampa City Boxing believes is the same formula for winning at life: Do your homework. Pass the test. You're a winner.
